Park and ride has been discontinued

We no longer operate a park and ride service over Christmas and New Year.

The park and ride service which operated between Chessington World of Adventures and Kingston town centre during the Christmas period has been discontinued as a result of increased operating costs and falling user numbers.

With Kingston’s costs increasing by 57 per cent between 2006 and 2014, and the number of service users falling by 64 per cent over the same period, it has regretfully been decided that the service is no longer financially viable.

Options to address these issues and continue the service were investigated, but have sadly proved unsuccessful.

The full text of the committee report and decision can be viewed in the agenda and minutes of the Infrastructure, Projects and Contracts Committee meeting held on Thursday 11 September 2014

As an alternative, regular timetabled bus services between Chessington and Kingston are available, with routes 71 and 465 both in operation.

Additionally, you can park for £10 all day at the Rose, Cattle Market, Canbury Place and Bittoms car parks.

For weekend visitors this Christmas period you can save time queuing for car parks by using the Bittoms car park, which has 800 spaces only five minutes walk from the town centre.

See car parks for further details about parking in the borough.
