Let us know about changes or mistakes
If we give you a reduction by mistake, or you are no longer entitled to receive a reduction because your circumstances have changed, you must let us know within 21 days or you could be fined or prosecuted.
We may also ask you to pay back the reduction and if it has been given over a long period of time this could be a lot of money. So let us know by using one of our online forms:

Remove single person discount (also called sole occupancy discount)
If you have been receiving the single person discount but are no longer the only paying adult living in your home – you can remove the discount online.

If you have been receiving the single person discount we will ask you to confirm that you are still the only paying adult living in your home, once every year. You will receive a letter that asks you to use our online form to confirm your circumstances.
Remove a discount received by mistake
Use our 'change in circumstance' online form to let us know that you have received a discount by mistake. In the form – when asked why you are contacting us – choose ‘other Council Tax discounts and exemptions’.
