Apply for a postal vote
Anyone who is registered to vote in Kingston can apply to become a postal voter. For security we require both your signature and your date of birth, these will be matched against the information you provide when you return your postal vote.
You can apply to vote by post at any time - you do not need to wait for an election to be called. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on the eleventh working day before an election. Please see Coming elections for the deadline for the next election.
Please download a postal vote application from the Electoral Commission's webpages, complete the necessary information and either email the form to us as an attachment to [email protected] or post it to:
Kingston upon Thames
You can apply for one election, a set period of time or permanently.
If you opt for a permanent postal vote you will still be legally required to refresh your signature every five years to make sure we have a copy of your current signature. We will contact you when it is time to do so.
Spoilt or lost postal ballot papers
If you have not received your postal vote, it is possible to request a replacement. Replacements can only be issued from a week before the election, up to 5pm on polling day. Please contact the elections team on 020 8547 5026 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) to request a replacement postal pack.
If you have made a mistake on your ballot paper or postal vote statement, simply correcting the mistake is usually acceptable and we will not need to issue a replacement. If you do require a replacement postal ballot paper pack due to it being badly damaged, you will need to bring the original one to our office so please do not throw it away. Contact us on 020 8547 5026 for more information.
Cancel your postal vote
If you don't want to vote by post anymore you need to write to us making sure you sign the letter so we can check it against our records.
Either email the letter to us as an attachment to [email protected] or post it to:

We cannot cancel postal votes any later than 5pm on the eleventh working day prior to an election.
