Exciting plans for playgrounds in Chessington and Tolworth unveiled
We’re really pleased to be improving three more parks in the borough as part of our £1.3 million Community Parks programme.
A big thank you to all of our residents who helped us shape the plans to makeover playgrounds at Churchfields and King Edwards Recreation Grounds in Chessington and Knollmead Park in Tolworth.
We received some really great suggestions, many of which will be included in the new plans.
Churchfields Recreation Ground will now have not one, but two new trampolines. We have also included totem poles and more climbing equipment in the final design, as well as more accessible play equipment, including a hammock swing and accessible roundabout.
At Knollmead Park you said you wanted more features for older children, so we have changed our plans to include a large multiplay structure with climbing, sliding, swinging and imaginative play as well as a seesaw, where children can sit or stand on either end.
Our final design for King Edwards Recreation Ground will be published in the coming weeks.
For the latest updates and to see all the plans, including parks that have already had a makeover visit our community parks programme website.
We are excited to see the works start in the next few months and hope residents will enjoy playing on the new and improved playgrounds once open.
