New COVID-19 Testing Site in Kingston

A new walk-through COVID-19 test centre has opened in New Malden, increasing the testing capacity across the borough and making it easier for residents with symptoms to book a coronavirus test.

The testing site, located on Cocks Crescent, is open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.

It opens as cases of coronavirus continue to rise in Kingston.

The borough, along with the rest of London will move into Tier 3 from Wednesday 16 December.

Iona Lidington, Director of Public Health at Kingston Council, said:

“Cases of coronavirus in Kingston are really high and they are going up. It is vital we take action now. This new testing site at Cocks Crescent brings additional capacity, and I would urge anybody with symptoms to book a test straight away.

“By getting tested if you have any symptoms, as well as continuing to follow the rules around HANDS - FACE - SPACE, and making sure you do not mix indoors with anybody out of your household or support bubble, you are helping to protect your loved ones and preventing Kingston Hospital and our local NHS services from being overwhelmed.”

The test site is a walk-through facility, meaning that you must arrive on foot, or by bicycle. If you have to drive, you can park in the Blagdon Road Car Park or Malden Leisure Centre and walk to the test site from there.

You must have an appointment to get a test at any of our testing sites. You can book a free test by visiting www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are a high temperature, a new continuous cough, and a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell.

If you have any of these symptoms, you should self-isolate - that means stay at home - and book a test as soon as possible.

If you test positive, you must then self-isolate for 10 days, starting the day after you first started feeling symptoms. Anyone you live with or in your support bubble must also self-isolate for 10 days from this date.
