Kingston 2025 Active for All Sports Day: A Celebration of Sport, Community and Wellbeing

05 September 2025
Surbiton’s Alexandra Recreation Ground provided the perfect location for this year's Kingston 2025 Active for All Sports Day, organised by the council’s Active Kingston team. An estimated 400-500 local residents came together to enjoy a packed day of free sport, fitness, and community activities.

The event brought together an incredible mix of clubs, charities and community organisations, showcasing the diversity of opportunities to get active in Kingston. From traditional sports to creative fitness sessions, there was something for everyone to try, regardless of age or ability.

Kingston Council is committed to offering all residents a wide range of opportunities to be active and healthy. From community and school sports and activities, wellbeing programmes, gyms, swimming and more, there’s something for all ages and abilities.

Highlights of the day sports day included:

  • Social and family fun: Surbiton junior parkrun kicked off the day, Full Cycle offered free bike checks, and local clubs like Surbiton Decca RFC and The Pub Run Club showed how staying active can be fun and community-driven.

  • Sport and activity tasters: From basketball with Future Rising Foundation, boccia with Kingston Mencap, and inclusive football with Fulham FC Foundation, to classic sports like fencing, croquet, bowling, cricket, and table tennis, there was something for everyone to try.

  • Group fitness and movement: High-energy Zumba, line dancing, Aerolatino, Qi Gong, Capoeira, karate, wrestling, and even skipping with JUMP LDN kept the energy up all day.

  • Community and wellbeing: Brighter Living, Shine Bright, Silverfit, and Places Leisure - Forever Active shared accessible health and wellbeing opportunities, with a focus on older adults and social connection.

London Gymkhana Cricket Club gave the use of their pavilion during the day, and Places Leisure, Tolworth Recreation Centre and Tolworth Girls School provided table tennis tables and equipment.

The Kingston 2025 Active for All Sports Day showcased the strength of Kingston’s sporting community, celebrating health, inclusion, and fun for all. With hundreds of residents participating throughout the day, the event highlighted just how much appetite there is locally for opportunities to get active, socialise, and try something new.

From 1 October there will be even more exciting opportunities to get active in Kingston, as Places Leisure begin a new agreement bringing new leisure services and improved facilities across the borough.
