Emma started her musical journey at age 11 when she was chosen to join her school music programme in Perth, Australia. She was accepted into Churchlands Senior High School Music Scholarship programme where she played and sang in many ensembles. Within this time she also attended the National Children’s Wind Orchestra of Australia camps and was awarded “Camper of the Year". In her final year of school, Emma received the Top Instrumentalist Award and played in front of 500 people at her graduation ceremony.
Emma relocated to Sydney when she was accepted to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She graduated with a Diploma in Performance. In her final year of university, she also received a Associate Diploma from the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB). She then attended the University of Western Sydney, where she graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Instrumental Music Education.
Since 1999 Emma has passionately taught instrumental music in Sydney, Perth (her home town) and now in London. She has taught woodwind to all levels of student and almost every type of ensemble. She is the proud founding conductor of the Kingston Training Band where she hopes to create a new generation of 'band geeks' just like her!
