Music Exams and Music Therapy

Music exams

KMS are unable to coordinate music exams centrally, however it is very easy for parents to book music exams, whether instrumental, vocal or theory. Please speak to your music tutor for advice before booking any eaxams to make sure the student is ready to take the exam. You will find some links to current offers from the main exam boards, most of whom offer exams in person as well as digitally:

Trinity Examination Board

ABRSM (Associated Board)

London College of Music Examinations

Rock School

Music Teachers' Board

KMS can put you in touch with a piano accompanist if you need one for your exam but this will incur a charge. Contact musicservice@kingston.gov.uk for more information.

Music Therapy at the Hook Centre

Taking part in music therapy helps support positive change and enables people to reach their full potential. It builds confidence and encourages physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing.

We are working in partnership with Richmond Music Trust to establish a new music therapy centre at the Hook Centre in Chessington. Richmond’s Music Therapy Service will be delivering therapy sessions on a small group or one to one basis.

For more information on what the service can provide or to make a referral please visit Richmond Music Trust's website.

Alternatively please contact Kingston Music Service.
