Road gritting map

The below maps of the borough show the routes that are treated with salt during freezing weather.

Marginal network
These are roads with exposed patches that we know are prone to freezing through previous experience. These roads are spot-treated where necessary if temperatures approach freezing.

Educational network
These roads provide immediate access to schools and other education establishments. These are treated on weekdays during term time when necessary.

Carriageway network
These are key routes that are treated in their entirety if temperatures fall low enough that widespread ice and snow is likely to become a problem.
