You may be able to get a discount or exemption if a person who normally lives at your address is: 

• on remand or in prison
• held on mental health grounds as a result of a court order
• under immigration law

How to apply

Use our general enquiries form to apply by telling us: 

• your council tax account number
• the address where you wish to claim the discount
• details about the detained person
• prison number (if applicable)
• the date they were held
• expected release date (if known)
