Walking Tour of Historic Kingston and Cream Tea with The Mayor
This summer, the Mayor is offering a unique opportunity, which will delight anyone interested in local history, or those of you who have always harboured a secret desire to have tea with the Mayor!
Our official Town Crier/Tipstaff and local historian, Mike Seigel, will be leading an hour-long walking tour of Kingston’s historical sights, highlighting some of the fascinating history of our Royal Borough. This will be rounded off with a cream tea, hosted by the Mayor, in the Queen Anne Suite of the Guildhall, with special access to view the Mayor’s Parlour and the artefacts contained there.
Tickets cost:£25 per person.
Numbers will be strictly limited and on a first come, first served, basis, so early application is advised, as are comfortable walking shoes!
This event is in aid of The Mayor’s Charitable Trust, which in 2023-24 is supporting two local charities: Voices of Hope & Kingston Charitable Foundation.
Kingston’s Town Crier says "Oyez! Come and discover some fascinating facts about our historic town. We shall meet outside the Guildhall and begin our tour with the newly refurbished Coronation Stone, unveiled by Prince Edward last year. We shall then proceed to the Ancient Market Place and from there to the riverside and return via the Clattern Bridge: en route you will hear about Saxon Kings, mediaeval punishments, drunken football matches - and much more!!”
