Opening Hours this Bank Holiday Weekend

Contact Centre:

We are open as normal, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with the exception of the following:

Community spaces across the borough

Community spaces are open to everyone and include services such as free wifi, computers, advice and guidance and, in some locations, games to play and a free hot drink.

Ukraine Support Information and Advice Centre 

The Centre will close at 4pm on 28 March, will remain closed on 29 March and 1 April, and will reopen as normal on Tuesday 2 April. Usual opening hours are 10am - 4pm.

Housing repairs emergencies (Kingston Council tenants only) 

Please call 020 8547 5003. This service is available 24 hours a day over the Easter bank holiday period as normal.

If you smell gas, please open doors / windows, turn off the supply, leave the property and call the National Grid on 0800 111 999 from outside of your home. 

Please don’t:

  • use your mobile phone indoors 

  • use any electrical switches (including doorbells)

  • smoke, use matches or naked flames. 

 

Homelessness

Should you be homeless during the bank holiday or at the weekend, please call the Out of Hours service on 020 8770 5000.

 

Rough sleeping

If you are concerned about a person rough sleeping you can report this via the StreetLink website or call 0300 500 0914. 

 

Mental health support

If you feel you need some support with your mental health, help is available.

You can visit the Good Thinking website for online support with your wellbeing needs, including tips on improving your sleep, anxiety, low mood and managing stress. The website also has free self-help workbooks you can use and apps you can download. 

 

Connected Kingston has details of local support to help if you are feeling depressed, anxious or stressed; if you feel lonely; if you are supporting someone with their mental health; and a separate list for young people's support.

 

If you feel that you can’t keep yourself safe, are thinking of taking your own life, or are at risk of harming yourself, these services can offer urgent support.

Who to contact if you feel that you can't keep yourself safe

Contact your GP 

Contact your GP if you are feeling worse, mentally and/or physically, or if you feel you require medication, or want to change your medication.  Ask for an urgent/emergency appointment if necessary.

 

24/7 mental health crisis line for adults

If you need mental health support in a crisis, you can call the South West London and St George’s NHS Mental Health Trust’s 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line on 0800 028 8000.  

The Mental Health Crisis Line offers emotional support and advice to people who are affected by urgent mental health issues, at any time of the day or night. It is open to everyone: both children and adults of all ages, and to people who haven’t previously accessed mental health services.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can help and direct you to the right service for your mental health.

If you are already a patient (adult or young person under the age of 18) at the Trust, and it is between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, please call the mental health team that looks after you. Otherwise, please contact the 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line above. 

 

IN AN EMERGENCY

If you have harmed yourself, or you feel you are at immediate risk of harming yourself or others, ring 999 for an ambulance or go to A&E (Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, Galsworthy Road, Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 7QB).  The hospital will assess your needs and support you to keep safe. Mental health crisis phone line for children and young people

If you are a child or young person, or a parent/carer concerned about a young person’s mental health, you can contact the South London Crisis Line on 0203 228 5980, Monday to Friday, 5pm – 11pm, and Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays from 9am to 11pm. 

 

If you are struggling, or feel like you just want a chat, you can call the Samaritans on 116 123 any time of the day and speak to a friendly volunteer. 

Although they are not open over the Easter holidays you can self-refer to NHS Talking Therapies  which provides psychological therapies to help people with anxiety, depression, bulimia, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and postnatal depression and they will be in touch.

 

Sexual health and emergency contraception

For NHS sexual health services, including emergency contraception, contraception and STI testing, please take a look at your GP surgery or specific service websites for opening times, and call before attending.

The Wolverton Centre at Kingston Hospital

Your Healthcare Contraception & Sexual Health  Service at Hollyfield House, 22 Hollyfield Road, Surbiton (0208 339 4783), is closed for the Easter bank holidays (Friday and Monday) but is open 11-1300 Saturday 30th March   

Emergency contraception is available for purchase from most pharmacies.  Young people (under 25) can be supplied with free emergency contraception and condoms, confidentially, from some local pharmacies, but call first to check opening hours and for pharmacist availability, particularly over bank holidays.  A full list of pharmacies offering free sexual health services to under 25s is available on the Getting It On website

Free postal STI testing is available for those aged 16+ by visiting Sexual Health London or, if you’re 16-25 years old, you can also request them on the Free Test website

Domestic or sexual violence prevention

The Kingston DV Hub is open and accessible via telephone (0208 547 6046) or email (kingstondvhub@refuge.org.uk) 

The DV Hub’s usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm.

The DV Hub will be closed over the Easter bank holiday weekend. It will reopen on 2 April.

For support during this time please call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline for free and in confidence - 0808 2000 247.

The  One Stop Shop will be closed on Monday 1 April. It will reopen on Monday 8 April, opening from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

 

To report a crime and other concerns

Call 101, the police non-emergency number, to report theft, criminal damage, drug use or dealing in your neighbourhood.

You should always call 999 when it is an emergency, such as when a crime is in progress, someone suspected of a crime is nearby, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened.

 

Villiers Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC)

Remember that you need to book your time slot before you visit the HRRC.

The HRRC opening hours are:

Waste and recycling collections

Waste and recycling collections will take place as usual over the Easter bank holiday - find your collection day on our website. Please put your bins out for collection on your collection day by 6.30am.

Kingston Register Office (births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships)

Kingston Register Office will be closed on Friday 29 March and Monday 1 April. Saturdays are by appointment only. For service timings and paperwork deadlines, please visit the Kingston Register Office webpage


 

Kingston Cemetery

The cemetery is open daily, 10am to 5pm on Bank Holidays and weekends. There will be no burials or cremations on the following dates:
