Kingston Green Business Challenge
Context
In June 2019, Kingston Council declared a Climate Emergency, with the goal of making the council carbon neutral by 2038. Following this declaration, a Draft Climate Emergency Action Plan has been developed which is currently undergoing public engagement.
The council recognises the important role that businesses play in addressing climate change, as well as the challenges that businesses face to achieve Net Zero emissions.
The Kingston Roundtable Discussion on Net Zero Hero highlighted that businesses would benefit from advice on how to access accurate advice on how to become more environmentally sustainable, while the most recent survey from the Organisation for National Statistics (ONS) on businesses net zero actions says ‘implementing change being costly’ was the main barrier preventing businesses from acting’.
