Kingston is fortunate to have a number of local community groups passionate about tackling climate change and protecting the environment.
Here are some of the groups in the area which hold regular events and opportunities to get involved. Many of them are part of the Kingston Environment Forum which acts as a 'critical friend' to the council and provides feedback and collaboration in the delivery of our Climate Action Strategy.
- Community Brain uses the widest range of the arts, local history, social enterprise and community-led regeneration in order to give places renewed importance and pride.
- Extinction Rebellion Kingston focuses on non-violent protest, direct action and pressure on a local, national and global level to act on the climate emergency with the required level of urgency.
- Full Cycle is a non-profit community bike project run by a team of professional mechanics and friendly volunteers.
- Greenpeace is a movement of people who are passionate about defending the natural world from destruction.
- Habitats & Heritage is a charity that cares for the natural and historic environment and climate in south and west London.
- Kingston Community Energy is a not-for-profit cooperative enterprise. Our vision is for community-owned decentralised renewable energy across the Royal Borough of Kingston.
- Kingston Cycling Campaign is a local Kingston Borough group of the London Cycling Campaign, promoting cycling in the borough and speaking up for everyone on bikes – children and adults.
- Kingston Association for the Blind empowers individuals living with sight loss, to lead independent and fulfilled lives in Kingston upon Thames and the surrounding areas.
- Kingston Environment Centre (KEC) works with local individuals and environmental organisations to secure a sustainable future for Kingston Upon Thames.
- Kingston Environment Forum represents a range of local groups with an interest in environmental issues and activities in the borough.Transition Town Kingston (TTK) is a community group helping to raise awareness of the climate crisis and encourage the transition to a sustainable low-carbon future.
- Kingston Friends of the Earth is part of a movement transforming social beliefs and culture, creating a safer climate, flourishing nature, and healthy air, water and food.
- Kingston Hive is a collective of local volunteers taking over a vacant space in the town centre and transforming it into a vibrant hub to benefit people and planet.

- New Era / Angels of the Hood is a charity that operates in and around Chessington. They collect short dated food from Supermarkets on a daily basis and distributed it to those who need a little help making ends meet.
- Save the World Club is a charity saving items donated by the community and keeping them circulating through upcycling, repurposing, repairing or recycling.
- Seething Wells Action Group (SWAG) is a non-partisan group made up of local residents dedicated to protecting the Seething Wells filter beds for the community.
- St. Andrews & St Marks Eco-Committee seeks to take forward an Action Plan to make its churches greener and is made up of congregation members.
- St Peter's Church (Norbiton)
- SunrayRecycle aim to reduce landfill & earn pennies to support our community, Sunray Community by recycling plastics via TerraCycle & other campaigns, they also encourage repurposing & reusing.
- Vegecoopia is an agri-food educational organisation based in Kingston upon Thames, we aim to build community bonds and resilience through sustainable food practices.
