Vehicle exemptions

Request additional visits

If you’re about to reach your annual limit of visits for your vehicle, you can request to have more visits.

The annual limits are:

  • 20 for cars
  • 12 for vans

After you’ve requested an exemption, we’ll contact you to discuss your circumstances further.

Visiting for someone else or exceptional circumstances

You can apply for an exemption to take waste on behalf of someone else in exceptional circumstances. For example, if you’re helping someone who cannot take their waste to the recycling centre.

It takes up to 10 working days for us to process your request.

What happens next

The waste team will review your request and let you know if your request has been approved.

For more complex requests, we may contact you to discuss your circumstances and request further information, ID, or evidence.

If your request is approved

We'll tell the recycling centre that your request has been approved and that they should allow you entry.

When you visit the site, bring your confirmation email and proof of address like a Council Tax letter or photo ID.

What you can bring

All items brought to the recycling centre must be your household waste. Check what you can and cannot bring to the recycling centre.
