Close a road

If you want a road to be closed or another temporary restriction on vehicles or traffic, you need to apply for our permission.

You may want to do this, for example, if you’re carrying out street work or holding a street party. This is known as a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO).

Fees from 1 April 2025

14.1: Planned works

• £2,800 - up to 10 day duration
• £3,000 - up to 1 month duration
• £3,250 - up to 3 month duration
• £3,500 - up to 6 month duration
• £3,750 - up to 1 year
• £4,000 - up to 18 months

14.2: Emergency works and short duration waiting restrictions

• £1,700 - 10 day duration or less
• £500 - Extension up to 21 days

Additional costs

Applicants must organise and pay for any other service we request including:

• advertising the restrictions in advance to residents
• the provision of no parking cones, warning signs and covering existing signs

Note that we do not provide a tow-away service.
