Apply for road licences

If you're a scaffolding company with at least £5m public liability insurance, apply for a licence to put scaffolding, a tower or gantry on any part of the public highway.

Apply to close a road or apply a temporary restriction on vehicles or traffic, for example if you’re carrying out street works or holding a street party.

If you want to store building materials including portable toilets on the highway you can apply for a licence.

Apply to put up a hoarding or other protective fence, even on private property or next to the highway.

Apply for a licence to build a temporary vehicle cross over the public highway.

Apply for a licence to operate mobile highway plant apparatus such as a cherry picker or scissor lift.

Apply to place or use a crane over the highway.

Apply if you want to put up temporary signs on street furniture.

Apply if you want to fix temporary or permanent banners, bunting, beams or apparatus on or over the public highway.
