In order to expand and improve the facilities at Burlington Junior School, the pathway into and out of Blagdon Park from Burlington Road has had to be closed as it leads directly onto access for the construction site, which is where all site traffic, plant and deliveries are being routed throughout the project. 

Health and safety during construction is crucially important, and it is therefore necessary to close the entrance/exit to the park adjacent to the school, blocking the route through the park between Burlington Road and Blagdon Road. The route through Jubilee Square remains open.

However, responding to the concerns raised, councillors and officers have worked quickly with the construction contractors Morgan Sindall to reach a compromise, resulting in a gated entrance that will be open outside of site working hours, i.e. evenings and weekends. We
anticipate that the hours of access to the pathway will be as follows:

• Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 18:00 - gated access to the path will be closed
• Monday - Friday: 18:00 - 07:00 - gated access to the path will be open
• Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays - gated access to the path will be open
• Note: In the event that Morgan Sindall needs to work on a Saturday morning, access will be blocked 07:00 - 13:00. This is likely to be rare.

The closure is being made to ensure compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and to make sure that everyone stays safe while construction takes place in close proximity to the park.
