Get help with your financial assessment
Find out what help you can get with your financial assessment and paying for care.
Ask someone to help
You can give someone the right to manage your money and help you with your financial assessment. This could be a friend, family member or a legal representative like a solicitor. There are different ways to do this.
Nominate someone
If you want someone to deal with your financial assessment for you, you can nominate someone you know. This could be a friend or family member.
You can speak to your social worker about this.
Get an independent advocate
If you find it difficult to understand your care and support or have difficulty communicating your views, you can ask someone to speak on your behalf. This person is called an advocate.
Power of attorney
To plan for the future, you may want someone you trust to have power of attorney. It gives them permission to make decisions about your money, property or care if you become unable to.
When someone lacks mental capacity, a friend or relative can apply to be an appointee to help manage their pension or benefits.
