Could you save money on your energy bills while helping the planet?

Discover potential savings on your energy bills through a new round of the Big Community Switch, a free community group buying scheme designed to secure better energy deals for households.
Since its inception in 2012, the Big Community Switch has seen over 2.1 million people register their interest in switching energy contracts, offering them an easy, hassle free way to switch to a competitive fixed tariff.
The initiative brings households together to combine their buying power, enabling trusted and vetted energy suppliers to compete for their custom. This process not only helps people see how much money they might save but also promotes the use of 100% renewable electricity energy tariffs so they don’t have to choose between savings and sustainability.
For other ways to save energy at home, residents are invited to visit the council’s recently launched Energy Saving Hub, which is full of practical advice.
George Frost, spokesperson for Big Community Switch said:
“Rising energy costs have placed a significant burden on households. This scheme offers a practical starting point for residents to make an informed decision about switching their energy supplier.
“By coming together as a community, people in Kingston upon Thames can access tariffs offered through the scheme that might not be available to them individually.”
The Big Community Switch is simple, hassle-free, and comes with no obligation to switch providers.
Households can register online the Big Community Switch website before 24 June, after which suppliers will compete to offer the most competitive rates. Once the auction is complete, participants will receive a personal offer, allowing them to decide whether the new tariff is right for them.
Key features:
- Free registration: Households can sign up without any cost.
- No obligation: Participants decide whether to accept the offer.
- Hassle-free process: The scheme handles negotiations with suppliers.
- Renewable energy options: Residents can choose 100% renewable electricity tariffs.
The Big Community Switch has already seen success in other parts of the country, helping over two million households explore potential savings while simplifying the energy-switching process.
