Kingston’s Efficient Homes Show, building a greener future together

Kingston's Efficient Homes Show - Saturday 20 May

The council, Kingston Green Business Community and local organisations have teamed up to create the borough’s first ever Efficient Homes Show, taking place at Hollyfield School in Surbiton on 20 May.

As part of the council’s work to tackle climate change and create a greener future, Kingston’s Efficient Homes Show has been developed to help people learn about ways to make their homes energy-efficient while saving money and reducing their impact on the planet.

Over thirty local businesses, universities and organisations have signed up to exhibit and will be showcasing a wide range of technology and services such as solar panels, insulation, electric car chargers and much more.

The show offers a unique opportunity for residents to speak with experts to find out what may be suitable for their home and budget, with a variety of talks also planned throughout the day.

Councillor Ian Manders, Portfolio Holder for Climate Action and Sustainable Transport said:

“Homes produce a fifth of the carbon emissions in the UK and the fossil fuel gas that causes this is no longer cheap, so to help local residents reduce their environmental impact and cut their energy bills we are holding Kingston’s first ever Efficient Homes Show.”

The event has been developed, in part, by Kingston’s Green Business Community, which identified the show as an opportunity to stimulate interest and business growth in related sectors, while helping residents to cut their bills and tackle climate change.

Attendees will also be able to learn about training courses and the prospect of over 600,000 ‘green’ jobs, which will be created in London by 2030. These jobs will be fundamental to achieving the energy efficiency improvements needed across the capital and encompass design, manufacture, installation, project management and more.

The Efficient Homes Show is open to everyone, whether you're a homeowner, landlord or renter, curious about green-career opportunities or run a business and are looking for opportunities to network.

It will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday 20 May at Hollyfield School in Surbiton.

Tickets are free and can be booked online via
