Deaths of Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock and former Councillor Frank Thompson

Kingston Council is sad to announce the deaths of serving Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock and former Councillor Frank Thompson.

Chrissie Hitchcock sadly passed away during the night of 25 May 2015, following a short illness. Her death brings to end 25 years of dedicated service as a councillor; she had represented Grove Ward as a Liberal Democrat Councillor since 1990. Chrissie was a member of select group of just five people to have served the borough as Mayor on two occasions (in 1997/98 and again in 2010/11).

Frank Thompson resigned from the Council in September 2014 on grounds of ill health, having represented Tudor Ward as a Conservative Councillor for just over 12 years. Frank sadly passed away in the early hours of Saturday 23 May.

The Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Roy Arora, said:

“The borough has lost two of its most dedicated, hard-working citizens. Frank and Chrissie were both wonderful councillors who were liked and respected across the political divide. Although very different characters, they shared a passion for Kingston and its people. They will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with them.”
