Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is changing in April 2013. Read more about the changes to this benefit.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a tax-free benefit for children and adults who need help with personal care or their mobility needs. There is confusion about the purpose of the benefit, it is complex to claim and there is no systematic way of checking that awards remain correct.

To address this, the government have introduced a new benefit called Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from 8 April 2013 that will eventually replace DLA for people aged 16 to 64.
