Kingston to Tolworth

Ewell Road and Penrhyn Road are being looked at under the Go Cycle Programme to see how we can improve this key route linking Kingston and Tolworth to better accommodate those travelling on bicycle and improve safety and connectivity.

Phase one of this route, consulted on during summer 2016, comprised the central section of the route including Surbiton Crescent, Palace Road, Claremont Road, Avenue Elmers and St. Mark's Hill.

Phase two of the route comprises Penrhyn Road and Surbiton Road in its northern section and Ewell Road in its southern section.

The Kingston to Tolworth scheme will provide:
  • improved cycling facilities through separation from traffic on busy roads (Penrhyn Road and Ewell Road)
  • improved safety for bicycle riders - with junctions designed to give greater visibility and navigation for cyclists through intersections
  • better access and crossing provision for pedestrians
  • retention of loading /unloading bays for businesses based on usage

In autumn 2016 we held a public consultation on our proposals for this project and we've published a report and summary of your feedback.
