Walk for Health

Walk for Health is programme of free weekly, social, health walks of between 30 and 60 minutes duration for everyone.

The walks are for those who would like to improve their physical and mental wellbeing and enjoy the added benefit of exercising outdoors. The walks are graded to suit a range of abilities led by qualified walk leaders and take place in some of the most beautiful open spaces Kingston has to offer.

Children and young people under 16 years should be accompanied by an adult.

Get walking! 

To get started, choose your walk location, turn up 10 minutes prior to the start time and the walk leader will give you all the information you need from there onwards.

Queen's Promenade walk

This entry level walk is just over 1.5 miles and is perfect for those who are not looking for anything too challenging. An ideal walk for new starters. A flat, level walk along the Queens Promenade by the river
with toilets at the start and end. Enjoy refreshments with the group afterwards in the café.

Richmond Park walk

A perfect opportunity to see the largest of the royal parks in London, this walk through the national nature reserve of Richmond Park offers plenty to see; from Pembroke Lodge, to the Isabella Plantation and the many deer in between! Includes some hilly sections, grassy uneven slopes and off road terrain.

  • Tuesdays at 10.30am

  • toilets are at the beginning and half way point

  • suitable for regular walkers

  • lasting up to 90 minutes

River Thames walk

This popular River Thames walk starts at the Coronation Stone outside Guildhall. This 4 mile walk follows the Thames up to Teddington Lock and then returns. What better way to see the River than with company! A mostly flat level walk with a few steps at the start. Mainly off road along the river with toilets at mid-point and an opportunity to enjoy a well-earned hot drink locally.

  • Fridays at 10.30am

  • mainly off road with some narrow paths with a break at half point

  • lasting between 60-90 minutes

Chessington walk

Covering the surrounding area of Chessington and the open spaces of Horton Country Park, this walk of around 3 miles offers all the views and much more!Enjoy the beautiful countryside around Chessington with its hilly sections, stiles and grassy slopes.

  • Saturdays at 9.30am

  • meet at St Mary the Virgin Church, Church Lane, Chessington, KT9 2DR

  • mainly grassy terrain

  • lasting between 60-90 minutes
