Preventing falls and maintaining bone health

Preventing falls

If you, or someone you care for, have experienced any of the following, the Kingston Falls Prevention Service can help you:

  • stumbling or falling over regularly, even if you don’t actually hurt yourself
  • being frightened of falling either at home or when you are out and about
  • feeling less confident on your feet

We offer free falls risk assessments and exercise programmes that are proven to reduce the risk of falls. Our aim is to help you stay healthy and well, living in your own home safely and comfortably.

Maintaining bone health

Osteoporosis is characterised by the loss of bone mineral density, increasing the affected individual’s risk of injuries and fractures. Lifestyle factors including exercise and nutrition are key to maintain optimal bone health.

To support Kingston residents that are at risk or have already developed osteoporosis, a range of initiatives have been developed including weekly exercise programmes. To find out more about the service, bone health and osteoporosis please call our confidential Healthy Lifestyles helpline.
