How we make decisions

Our Constitution

The Council’s constitution explains how the Council operates. This includes how decisions are made and the procedures which we follow.

This is to make sure that our decision-making is:

  • efficient
  • transparent
  • accountable to residents

The Constitution is divided into 14 Articles. Each set out the basic rules governing the Council’s business.  More detailed procedures and codes of practice are provided in separate parts to the Constitution which sit behind the Articles.
