What's available?

We’ve collated a range of funding opportunities which can help individuals, community groups and organisations to make changes and take action to tackle climate change. Click the links below to find out more and check eligibility.

Funding for individuals

Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The Energy Company Obligation is a government scheme that requires energy companies to fund home improvements for eligible households. Find out more on the Ofgem website.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

The Government is providing grants to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps. These grants will help property owners overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies. Read more on the Government's website.

Electric vehicle charging for landlords

The grant provides residential and commercial landlords, social housing providers or property factors funding to install electric vehicle chargepoints in rental and leasehold properties. Read more on the Government's website.

National Skills Fund
This fund aims to help adults gain the skills they need to improve their job prospects, for example by gaining green skills, and support the economy. Read more on the Government's website.

Funding for community groups

Veolia Sustainability Fund
The Sustainability Fund will provide cash sponsorship, in-kind resources or staff volunteers to support not-for-profit organisations and community groups to transform their local community or environment. Applications are open until September 2023. Find out more on Veolia's website.
Lottery Heritage Grants

Using money raised by the National Lottery, the National Lottery Heritage Fund inspires, leads and resources the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and for the future. Visit the Lottery Heritage Grants website.

National Lottery Community Fund: Climate Action Fund linking Nature and Climate

This funding aims to help communities across the UK to address climate change. It is looking for projects that focus on the link between nature and climate and which encourage more community-led climate action. Read more on the National Lottery Community Fund website.

Community Fund - Reaching Communities England

This programme offers a larger amount of funding (over £10,000) for organisations that work with their community, whether that is for people living in the same area, or people with similar interests or life experiences. Read more on the Reaching Communities England website.

Funding for businesses

Workplace charging scheme

The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle chargepoints in the workplace. Read more on the Government's website.

Solar Skills London

As part of its Mayor of London-funded project, Solar Skills London, Solar Energy UK is running a grants scheme to support London’s solar businesses to provide training for employees as part of their professional development. Visit the Solar Skills London website.
