Use this service to order a copy of a certificate for births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships registered within the borough of Kingston upon Thames.
Order a certificate from Kingston
We hold all records for all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships that occurred within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames from 1837 to the present day.
Costs and collection
Certificates cost £11 each with our standard service and are usually ready within five working days.
Certificates cost £35 each with our priority service and are ready the same day if ordered before 12pm.
Postage and collection services are as follows:
- Standard (and international) orders are posted second class Royal Mail within 10 working days
- Priority orders are issued the same working day and then posted first class Royal Mail. Royal Mail advise 1st class post is between 1-3 working days but is not a gurantee.
- For Standard orders which you have specified are to be collected from our office, we will telephone you once these are available.
- For Priority orders placed before 12pm, which you have specified are to be collected from our office in person, these will be available between 1pm and 4pm the same day.
Events registered outside the borough
If the birth, death, marriage or civil partnership was not registered within the borough of Kingston contact the local Register Office for the area the event was registered in.

If you are unsure where the event took place, you can use the Kingston BMD website to search for births, marriages and deaths that occured in Kingston upon Thames. The Kingston BMD website will help you confirm if Kingston hold the record you are looking for. Although the indexes are not yet complete for all years and districts, we hope that the database will eventually cover all Kingston births, marriages and deaths from 1837. Please add the Kingston BMD reference number to any applications you submit.

Copies of decree absolutes are not held at the Register Office. These can be obtained from the county court where the divorce was heard.
