Sack collection

Some households have their waste and recycling collected in plastic sacks instead of wheelie bins.

Properties that get a sack collection

Some households have their waste and recycling collected in plastic sacks instead of wheelie bins. This is usually because their properties are not suitable for wheelie bins.

This includes:

  • flats above shops
  • properties with a steep slope to the kerb
  • properties with more than 3 steps to the kerb
  • properties without a front garden

Types of sack

There are 3 different colour sacks for your rubbish and recycling:

  • clear sacks for paper and card recycling
  • blue stripe sacks for dry mixed recycling
  • red stripe sacks for non-recyclable rubbish

Check what you can put in your sacks.

Delivery

We’ll deliver new sacks 4 times a year. You’ll get enough sacks to use 1 of each type every collection day until the next delivery.

If you run out, call 020 8547 5002 to order new sacks.

If your property is not suitable for wheelie bins

If you think your property is not suitable for wheelie bins, call 020 8547 5002 to request to change to a sack collection.

We’ll need to assess your property to see if you’re eligible for a sack collection instead of wheelie bins.
