Introduction to the course

The Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Special Educational Needs is aimed at professionals working in education or carrying out a caring role in nursery nursing, teaching assistance, childcare or play work, and are looking to develop knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs to progress within the sector as part of a new or existing role.

What will I learn?

This qualification provides a mechanism for you to recognise and develop your knowledge and understanding and establish personal, learning and employment goals. You will gain knowledge in the development of children and young people, Professional practice in special educational needs service, How to support children and young people to achieve learning potential, How to support children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, How to support disabled children and young people and those with specific requirements

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific entry requirements at this stage but the learner should have a good grasp of both written and spoken English to take part in class discussions and for written assignments

What do I need to bring with me to class?

This is an online course which will be delivered online so you will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet and an internet connection. If you do not have the necessary IT equipment you can still apply for the course as there may be opportunity for equipment loan, depending on personal circumstances
