Would you like to become an assessor?

An assessor's role is to observe, support, and guide learners on any educational programme which results in a qualification at the end. The assessor will review evidence to assess their abilities and ensure they meet the required standards to achieve their qualification. This course will give you the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out this important role.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to gain employment as an assessor in various further education (FE) and adult education settings.

You will learn to:

• Understand the principles and requirements of assessment
• Plan assessments
• Assess learners' skills and knowledge against set standards
• Collect evidence of competence through various methods, such as observation, questioning, and reviewing portfolios
• Ensure assessments are fair, unbiased, and aligned with the learning outcomes
• Support teachers, Internal Quality Assurers, and other staff involved in the delivery of vocationally related qualification courses 

You must be aged 19 or over and be a UK resident.

You will need a sufficient level of English to be able to follow the curriculum and complete any course work.

Please also be sure you have enough time each week to attend all classes and to complete any homework assignments outside of class.

As this is an online course, you will need some basic digital skills in order to access the online lessons.

If you live within Greater London, you will need to have the right to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the start date of the course.

If you live outside of the Greater London area, you will need to have lived in the UK for the past three years and also have the right to live in the UK for the duration of your course. If you live outside of the Greater London area you may not be eligible for full funding for this course. Kindly enquire with our team for details. "

Please bring a pen, pad and a folder to store any handouts. This course has some elements delivered online, so you will need access to a computer or laptop and an internet connection. (Please note that a smartphone or tablet will not be suitable) If you do not have the necessary IT equipment, you can still apply for the course as there may be opportunity for equipment loan depending on your personal circumstances.

You can continue to develop your knowledge with our other qualifications in education such as Principles of Special Educational Needs Level 3 Certificate, Teaching Assistant level 3 Diploma, or Train to Teach Adults (Education and Training Level 3 Award)

You will be able to work as an assessor in various roles, including:

• Assessor - There is a great need for assessors on a variety of qualification courses in the UK. This is particularly true in the education and health and social care sectors. You would typically be working in classroom/workshop/learning centre environments
• Apprenticeship Assessor/Skills Coach - you can assess learners' progress and skills within apprenticeship programs in the UK

When combined with additional qualifications or experience, this course can help you gain employment in these areas:

• Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) - Many assessors also work as IQAs checking and ensuring the quality and standards of assessments are being met on an educational programme. To become an IQA, you will typically undertake a specialist IQA qualification.
• Lead Assessor - You could take on a leadership role, overseeing and managing assessment activities.
