Faulty traffic signals
All traffic signals in London are installed and maintained by Transport for London (TfL) and if any signals are not working properly then they can be reported online on the TfL website.
Enforcement of Speed Limits
The enforcement of speed limits falls under the responsibility of the police. Any concerns regarding vehicles driving dangerously or in excess of the posted speed limit should be reported to the Metropolitan Police. Contact your Local Safer Transport team.
Road safety cameras
The London Safety Camera Partnership together with the Metropolitan Police are responsible for making decisions on the deployment of safety cameras. For a location to be considered, there must have been a specific number, type and severity of accident, within a distance of one kilometre, over the most recent three-year period, together with 20% of vehicles travelling above the speed limit. It must also be deemed that no other measures are suitable at the site.
TfL provides further information on road safety cameras.
Transport for London (TfL) are also working in partnership with the Met Police to set up a Community Roadwatch Scheme – a road safety initiative which aims to reduce speeding in residential areas. Nominate your street.
Cycling Enforcement on pavements
Although signage is displayed to deter cycling, it is not enforceable by the Council because cycling enforcement falls under the responsibility of the Police. Report cycling on pavements.
