Nominations open for the Borough Sports Awards

Residents are invited to nominate their local sporting heroes, clubs and teams for special recognition at this year’s Borough Sports Awards.

The awards ceremony which will be held at The Guildhall on Monday 11 November, celebrates sporting achievement, services to sport and recognises local figures that play an active role in encouraging community participation in sport and physical activity.

There are ten categories, including Sports Club of the Year, Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year and The Neil Desai Award - presented to a young sporting achiever that has given back to their community, through voluntary work, fundraising or mentorship.

Athletes, volunteers, coaches, secretaries or anyone who deserves special acknowledgment and fits within the criteria will be considered.

Councillor Andreas Kirsch, Portfolio Holder for Communities with responsibility for Sport and Leisure at Kingston Council said:

“Our Royal Borough is bursting at the seams with sporting talent, both athletic and in supporting roles. We want to know about the wonderful individuals that are helping keep our communities healthy and encourage residents to come forward and nominate people that deserve to be recognised for their commitment and dedication to sport in Kingston.”

Nominations close at midnight on Thursday 31 October.
