Statement on suspected WW2 bomb in Kingston
We were informed of a suspected World War 2 bomb found in Fassett Road, Kingston on Thursday morning. A successful controlled detonation happened on Friday afternoon.
Cordons have been lifted and roads are accessible to pedestrians from 7.30pm.
The rest centre at All Saints Church in the Market Place has now closed following residents being allowed to return to their homes.

Residents who have parking permits in the area that has been cordoned off and have parked their cars outside the zones will not recieve penalty notices.
Roads around Kingston town centre
The roads around the cordoned area have since been reopened, following the removal of the cordons. Road users are reminded that a section of Penryhn Road outside Kingston University still has temporary traffic signals operating, where the road is reduced to one lane and construction works are underway.
