Council fines fly-tipper for dumping rubbish

Kingston Council has successfully fined an individual for fly-tipping waste in New Malden.

The individual was caught on 1 April via a homeowner’s CCTV system dumping several black bags of waste in the road, before driving away.

Officers from the council’s Environment Enforcement Team were able to trace the owner of the vehicle, who admitted the offence and was issued with a £400 Fixed Penalty Notice.

Stephen Evans, Director of Communities at Kingston Council, said:

“Fly-tipping blights the environment and costs the council thousands of pounds each year to clear up. It’s unacceptable and irresponsible and we’ll continue to pursue those people who think they can fly-tip and get away with it.

“I would strongly encourage anyone who witnesses any fly-tipping to report it to the council.

If you see rubbish being dumped illegally, you can report it through the council’s website
