Chair for Kingston’s Independent Education Commission announced

Tony McArdle, former Chief Executive of Lincolnshire County Council and more recently Lead Commissioner at Northamptonshire County Council, will be the Chair of the Independent Education Commission.

The green light for the commission was given in February 2018. It is tasked with working with parents, schools, the council and other key stakeholders to review how effective outcomes can be delivered for our children with SEND whilst tackling the significant overspend in relation to the funding received from central government.

Tony McArdle, the Chair of Kingston’s Education Commission, said:

“At a time when the council is facing significant financial pressures, it is important that we ensure we are looking at all the areas in which the council is overspending. We know Kingston is not alone in these challenges and other councils across the country are facing similar issues.”

Leader of the council, Councillor Liz Green, said:

“We want the best education for all of our children. We have to look at how we achieve this in circumstances where all of our budgets are under extreme pressure and demands on services are growing.”

The commission will listen to parents, schools, health organisations and other key stakeholder to ensure we are taking their views on board. If you would like to talk to us, we are interested in hearing your views. Please email [email protected] or call 020 8547 6622.
