Nominations open for Kingston’s sporting heroes
Local people are invited to nominate their sporting stars and clubs for special recognition at this year’s Sports Awards.
The awards ceremony, which will be held at the Guildhall on Monday 8 October, gives recognition for sporting achievement, services to sport and those who promote local participation.
Categories include Sports Achiever of the Year, Sports Club of Year, Team of the Year, the Mayor's Trophy for unsung heroes and the Eileen Gray award for those who inspire others in sport. Entries for adult, junior athletes and teams are welcome.
Cllr Margaret Thompson, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Sport and Leisure at Kingston Council, said:
“Kingston is very proud of our local athletes and sports teams. I look forward to seeing the entries and hearing the brilliant reasons why local people deserve recognition.”
The Sports Awards are the highest accolade that can be awarded by the council to children, young people and adults in recognition of their achievements and services to sport. The awards also recognise the important role that sports clubs play in promoting sports participation locally.
Nominations close on Friday 21 September 2018. For more information, or to nominate someone, visit the council’s Sports Award webpage.
