Join the celebrations as Woodgate Avenue playground officially re-opens
Join the celebrations at Woodgate Avenue Recreation Ground as the Mayor of Kingston officially re-opens the transformed playground at 11am on Saturday 21 July.
Cllr Stephanie Archer, ward member for Chessington North and Hook, said:
“This has truly been a joint project between the council, London Marathon Fund and the community. Local people and users of the playground were consulted on the initial plans and I know that there was some really good feedback and ideas that were used in the final design.
“We know how important good quality outdoor space is for children and grown ups alike. I hope to see as many people as possible join us to celebrate this fantastic, revamped space!”
The £250,000 investment in Woodgate Avenue Recreation Ground included a £100,000 grant from the London Marathon Fund. This helped fund the installation of a new playground, including a pirate-themed climbing frame, zip wire, swings, outdoor exercise equipment, as well as new bins and benches.
Cllr Thay Thayalan, Mayor of Kingston, added:
“I’m very much looking forward to cutting the ribbon and officially opening this much-loved community space on Saturday 21 July. Do come along and join us.”
Face painting and healthy snacks will also be on hand for children to enjoy.
