The Community Grants Scheme is back with up to £125,000 up for grabs
£125,000 is up for grabs as the ‘New Initiatives’ and ‘Your Kingston’ grants scheme for local voluntary and community groups launches in Kingston.
Organisations can apply for up to £3,000 for a ‘New Initiatives’ grant or up to £750 for a ‘Your Kingston' grant.
The money is aimed at supporting voluntary, community, not-for-profit and faith groups in the borough to set up new and accessible activities or projects that benefit Kingston residents and make a difference to the local community.
The ‘New Initiatives’ grant is designed to encourage organisations to think about pilot projects and how to develop activities which will help to deliver at least one of Kingston Council’s community outcomes.
Last year, the grants helped a number of local organisations including the Centre for Community Development, Kingston WelCare, Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness, TAG Youth Club for Disabled Young People, Kingston Fencing Club, Digital Drama and Hook Leisure Gardens Association.
Councillor Hugh Scantlebury, portfolio holder with responsibility for partnerships at Kingston Council, said:
“The launch of the grants scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for local groups to get involved, submit their applications and be in with a chance to be awarded up to £3,000.
“What’s more, where we see grants leading to successful community outcomes, we will consider how these activities could be incorporated within our commissioning programme at the council. Kingston is dedicated to supporting community work, and this is just one of the ways in which we support local causes.”
Applications need to be for new projects. Requests for repeat activities won’t be considered.
Organisations can apply for one grant only, either a ‘New Initiatives’ or a ‘Your Kingston’ grant. Organisations can, however, apply for different projects or activities to meet the changing needs of their communities in different years.
