Join us as we celebrate the reopening of our revamped local playgrounds
Join us at one of our four reopening parties at playgrounds across the borough, celebrating the completion of a transformational £712,000 investment in children’s play space in Kingston.
Official playground reopening events are taking place over the next two weeks:
- Alexandra Recreation Ground - Thursday 8 March, 3pm to 5pm
- Latchmere Recreation Ground - Friday 9 March, 3pm to 5pm
- Elm Road Recreation Ground - Saturday 10 March, 11am to 1pm
- Canbury Gardens - Saturday 10 March, 2 to 4pm
Cllr Phil Doyle, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Resident Services at Kingston Council said:
“By the end of next month, we will have completed a £2 million investment in parks, playgrounds and pavements. This funding has been a long time coming and the results are fantastic. We’ve improved these key areas by installing new play equipment, additional bins and benches, as well as resurfacing ten stretches of pavement with new trees being planted. I’m delighted with the results and hope to see many residents and visitors at one of our exciting reopening parties in the coming weeks.”
Cllr Julie Pickering, Mayor of Kingston Council, said:
“It is wonderful that Kingston has started to refresh some of its playgrounds, which are important public spaces in our Royal Borough. I look forward to formally opening the renovated Elm Road Recreation Ground and hearing what Kingston’s youngest residents have to say!”
The £712,000 total includes a £100,000 grant funding contribution from the London Marathon Fund for Woodgate Avenue Recreation Ground.
