Residents to have their say on the future plans for Tolworth

Residents of Tolworth are being invited to have their say on plans for the future of their area.

The draft Tolworth Area Plan (TAP) sets out a future vision for the area to help inspire new development and initiatives capable of delivering physical, social and economic improvements. The plan will help to focus discussions around the form and type of future development, promoting coherence and consistency between individual projects.

Kingston Council along with the Greater London Authority (GLA) and Transport for London (TfL) have jointly commissioned the urban planning consultancy ‘We Made That’ to develop a transformation programme for Tolworth.

Work on the TAP has been progressing since last year when early engagement was undertaken with business partners, local councillors and community groups. This was followed by community drop-in sessions in June, when 345 members of the public took the opportunity to have their say on the plans being drawn up. The information gathered during the early engagement events was taken into account when drafting the Tolworth Area Plan.

Cllr David Cunningham, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames said:

"The council and its partners are very pleased to have developed this draft plan which we feel outlines the main priorities for developing a bright future for the Tolworth area. Tolworth has been identified as a key opportunity area within the borough and the plans outlined in the draft plan provide clarity to make that a reality."

The consultation on the draft Tolworth Area Plan will seek to gain feedback on the draft document by means of a survey on the council’s consultation portal. Following the consultation, the Tolworth Area Plan will be amended as necessary, before being put forward for adoption.

Public consultation is open for a period of four weeks from 9 October to 5 November 2017. For full details and to participate in the consultation please go to: or for those without internet access please call 020 8547 5002
