Nominations open for Kingston’s sporting stars

Sport

Local people are invited to nominate their sporting stars and clubs for special recognition at this year’s Borough Sports Awards.

The awards ceremony, which will be held at the Guildhall on Wednesday 15 November, gives recognition for sporting achievement, services to sport and those who promote local participation.

There are 10 categories, including Sports Club of the Year, Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year and the Mayor’s Trophy for an unsung hero.

Athletes, volunteers, coaches, secretaries or anyone who deserves recognition and fits within the criteria will be considered.

Cllr Andy Johnson-Creek, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Sport and Leisure at Kingston Council, said:

“We want Kingston to be the London Borough of Culture and one of the ways our Royal Borough excels is our outstanding sporting talent, both athletic and those in supporting roles. We want people to come forward and shine a light on those who deserve special recognition for their enthusiasm and dedication.

“I look forward to seeing the entries come through and hearing the undoubtedly brilliant reasons why local people deserve recognition.”

Nominations close at midnight on Friday 13 October.
