New modern parking meters are being installed across Kingston

New, hi-tech parking meters are set to be installed across the Royal Borough of Kingston.

The new machines include a host of new features that will make the experience of parking in the borough quicker and easier.

The existing estate of 420 meters across the borough will be rationalised down to 170 by removing underused and poorly placed machines. Although in some cases that could mean a slightly longer walk to a machine, there will be no need to return to your car to display your ticket - you simply type your car registration number into the machine instead.

The new machines will be more reliable and secure and will accept cash, card and contactless payments. The ability to select a number of different languages will also make them more accessible.

Some features will be activated after the new machines are installed so please always check the instructions on the machine.

Signs on roads with parking spaces will be updated to include clear instructions on where the new parking meters are located. If you encounter any problems using the machines, please phone our helpline on 020 8547 5002.

Please also remember that in many zones across the borough, you can park for the first 30 minutes for free. Check meters for this information and remember to still register your arrival by inputting your licence plate number into the machine.

You’ll continue to be able to pay using the RingGo app on your mobile phone.
