Kingston Adult Education (KAE), which provides courses for over 2,500 learners, has successfully kept its ‘good’ rating, following an inspection from OFSTED.

OFSTED, the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills, remarked on the success of leaders and managers in developing a positive, open and cooperative culture which supports learners to achieve their goals. Staff were also commended for targeting learning towards the local priorities of promoting the health and wellbeing of residents and in meeting local employment needs.

OFSTED also highlighted in their report good outcomes for learners:
"The large majority of learners across provision types complete their courses and achieve their qualifications successfully. Overall, learners achieve at higher rates than those at similar providers."

"A good proportion of adult learners who take GCSE qualifications in English and mathematics achieve high grades."

On achieving their goals, Kingston Adult Education learners have said:
"I would never have passed my maths without your help and now I have got into Nursing College. Thank you so much."

"I am delighted with my Level 2 English success. Thank you for helping me achieve what I thought was impossible."

Councillor Andy Johnson-Creek, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Education at Kingston Council, said:
“I’m delighted to hear that Kingston Adult Education have achieved an across-the-board ‘good’ rating. This is down to the hard work of our excellent adult education staff and, of course, our learners. However, we’re not complacent, we’ll be taking OFSTED’s guidance and incorporating it within our plans for KAE to further improve our offer and ensure that KAE’s future is bigger, brighter and better than ever.”

As well as apprenticeships, KAE provide courses for a wide variety of topics, including languages (including English for native and foreign speakers), arts, IT, adults in childcare, healthcare and fitness and much more.
