Kingston set to showcase regeneration opportunities on an international stage
Kingston’s world-class regeneration opportunities are set to be centre stage at MIPIM, the world’s premier property investment event.
The four-day event, which takes place from 14 to 17 March in France, offers access to the largest showcase of international development projects and investment opportunities.
Cllr Kevin Davis, Leader of Kingston Council, said:
“The council is committed to shaping the future of Kingston. Local Government is changing and councils need to promote themselves more to create inward investment, job opportunities and homes. We want to secure the right investment, and the right type of investors who will support us in this really important endeavour. This is why I am very supportive of Kingston promoting itself on the global stage with the rest of London and I know our team will make this event a success.”
Roy Thompson, Strategic Director of Place at Kingston Council, said:
“Kingston is embracing an exciting future. Our population is growing year-on-year and we need to support this growth with new homes, schools, jobs, leisure facilities, transport links and green space through our Kingston Futures programme. To get the best deal for our Royal Borough, we need to seek world class investment and the best way to do this is through being part of MIPIM, the world’s leading property development event.
“It’s important to say that our participation this year has been made possible by our partnership sponsors - the Berkeley Group, British Land, USS and CNM Estates whose support has enabled us to take our place at this important event without drawing on public funding.
“We are securing Kingston’s future as a prosperous borough through sensitive growth that’s respectful of our impressive heritage and status as a royal borough. In doing this, we can continue to promote Kingston as a great place to live, work, study and invest.”
Kingston Futures is the council’s programme for shaping growth and regeneration in Kingston. Through this programme, Kingston works with landowners, developers and investors to enhance the borough’s long term future through high quality development and improvements to public spaces.
The MIPIM delegation from Kingston Council consists of: Charlie Adan, Chief Executive; Roy Thompson, Strategic Director of Place; Viv Evans, Head of Planning and Regeneration; and Shabnam Ali, Lead Officer for Economic Growth and Business Liaison.
