£30,000 more for South of the Borough community projects

Community and voluntary groups and residents in the south of the borough can stake a claim for a share of another £30,000 to support local projects.

The South of the Borough Neighbourhood Committee’s Your Money, You Decide scheme gives organisations the chance to bid for up to £2,000 and lets local people decide who deserves a slice of the cash.

People in Tolworth and Hook Rise, Chessington North and Hook, and Chessington South will be able to vote next month on who will share up to £10,000 available in each ward.

Bids must be received by 12 September, and projects must benefit the local ward. Bidders who meet all of the eligibility criteria are invited to present their projects to local residents. Those who get the most votes are allocated funds once endorsed by the neighbourhood committee.

Successful bids in the last round of Your Money, You Decide included a scheme to combat burglary and equipment for local scouts.

“This is a popular scheme that lets local people decide how their money should be spent to benefit their community. It is always good to see so many residents getting involved.”

Councillor Rachel Reid, South of the Borough Neighbourhood Committee chair

Decision days this year are:

  • Saturday 14 September - Chessington North & Hook, and Chessington South. 10.00a.m-12.30p.m. at Chessington Community College, Garrison Lane.
  • Tuesday 17 September - Tolworth and Hook Rise. 6.00-8.30p.m. at Tolworth Girls' School, Fullers Way North.
