Struggling to get your home ready for the winter months? Kingston Council might be able to help

Grants and loans of up to £10,000 are available to homeowners and private tenants who need to carry out works and renovate their homes.

Work to install heating, insulation or repair leaking roofs can all be considered for financial support.

Councillor Cathy Roberts, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Housing at Kingston Council, said:

“Protecting vulnerable people is top of the agenda for the Council and, as winter draws near, people might be living in homes that are unsuitable in their present state, or in need of some repair.

“We urge those residents to apply for a Council grant or loan so that they can carry out essential works to bring their properties back to a decent condition. Money is available for heating systems, insulation, repairs to leaking roofs or work that reduces the risk of falls.  Damp prevention measures are also on the list.

“Private tenants can apply for work to improve their heating system as long as their landlord agrees.”

The scheme aims to help older residents stay safe and independent in their homes and to bring empty properties back into use.
