Free health checks and advice at community health event on Thursday 17 September

Our Public Health team is holding a day of free advice and support on health and wellbeing, confidential sexual health screenings and NHS health checks (for over 40s) on Thursday 17 September.

Date: Thursday 17 September 2015
Time: between 11am and 7pm
Location: Memorial Gardens, Kingston town centre

Councillor Cathy Roberts, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Health at Kingston Council, said:

“We know local people take their health seriously. We are the second best borough in London for uptake of health checks, and third nationally. The free health checks for over 40s are key to prevention and early detection, which is the very reason why we hold events like this.

“Last year, over 300 Kingston residents and visitors came along to the annual event, which is now in its fifth year. I would urge everyone to make some time to speak to our experienced health professionals about the range of services available to them, including advice on well being, physical and mental health. There will also be fantastic cooking demonstrations and giveaways.

“The more local people that access the huge variety of health services available, the longer, healthier and happier lives our residents will lead.”

For more information about the services available within the borough, including NHS health checks, see health and wellbeing.

Health checks are available to those aged 40 to 74 years of age who either live in or are registered with a GP in the borough and have not been diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes, stroke, kidney disease, high blood pressure or prescribed with statins.
