Notice of election - local ward by-elections

Local by-elections will take place on 7 May 2015 to elect borough councillors for Grove Ward and Tolworth and Hook Rise Ward.

Local by-elections for Grove Ward and Tolworth and Hook Rise Ward

  1. An election is to be held of a councillor for the Grove Ward and a councillor for the Tolworth and Hook Rise Ward of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
  2. Nomination papers can be obtained from the (Acting) Returning Officer at Guildhall.
  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the (Acting) Returning Officer on any day after the date of this notice, on Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4pm on Thursday 9 April 2015.
  4. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 7 May 2015.
  5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Guildhall by midnight on Monday 20 April.
  6. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Guildhall by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2015.
  7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Guildhall by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2015.
  8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 7 May 2015. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2015. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2015.

Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer

The (Acting) Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer are based at Guildhall in Kingston. Nomination papers can be obtained from and delivered to the Electoral Services office Mondays to Fridays between 10am and 4pm until Thursday 9 April 2015.
